Chicago Title Insurance Company
Chicago Title and Trust Co.
1893 title office caricature of a 1912 staff memeber
In 1893, the Title Guarantee and Trust Co. moved into a new building at 69 W. Washington. Designed by Henry Ives Cobb, the building boasted terra cotta, ornamental iron work and seven hydraulic elevators; its spacious abstract department was lit both electrically and by sunlight.
1905 staff photograph
A staff photograph from around 1905, posed in the still-new building at 69 W. Washington, includes many young men and women who would serve the company for decades more. Caricatures of staff members, produced around 1912, reveal friendly familiarity: colleagues knew each other's personalities and backgrounds. Here the caption reads: "Official Orator of the T and T (Title and Trust). Patrick Henry had nothing on this gentleman."
